The other day I took my family out location scouting at Lodi Lake. Location scouting helps me to prepare for up-coming shoots - I learn what direction the light will be coming from, and how strongly it shines in a particular area, as well as what might work and what might not. I take note of how the greenery is growing (or has it been trimmed back?). I look for framing opportunities. And sometimes I stumble upon a hidden corner that has gorgeous shadows, or a tree that makes for the perfect filter of yummy light.
My mini-me was just as into it as I was. She even brought her camera to take her own pretty pictures!
